About Wisconsin
Wisconsin truck drivers will get use to driving over bridges. The state has many lakes and rivers. The Fox River, located in the Green Bay area, runs through downtown Green Bay. The Mississippi River is the state's western border. The Wisconsin River weaves its way through the center of the state.
Wisconsin is one of the Great Lakes states. Two of the Great Lakes border the state. Lake Michigan borders eastern Wisconsin. Lake Superior borders northern Wisconsin. Southwest Wisconsin has beautiful canyons, most carved by rivers, including the Mississippi River. This area of Wisconsin is called the Driftless Area.
Wisconsin Roadways
Truck drivers in Wisconsin use I-43, I-94, I-39, I-90, and other roadways.
I-43
I-43 is the most important connection between Milwaukee and Green Bay. It follows the western edge of Lake Michigan. From Milwaukee, I-43 heads southwest to the Illinois border. Manitowoc and Sheboygan are located along I-43. If you get to Green Bay and want to continue north toward Michigan, you can continue on US Route 141. US 141 goes through Marinette County.
I-94
Interstate 94 enters western Wisconsin near Hudson, continues east to Eau Claire, and then heads in a southeast direction to Madison. At Madison, I-94 resumes its eastward route, connecting Madison and Milwaukee. Near Milwaukee, I-94 turns south, following the Lake Michigan border into Illinois. I-94 follows Lake Michigan to Chicago.
I-39
Running north/south in central Wisconsin, I-39 begins near Wausau, Wisconsin, and goes south into Illinois. Jonesville, Madison, and Stevens Point are all located along I-39.
I-90
I-90 enters south-central Wisconsin and heads north, paralleling I-39 and I-94. Like I-39, I-90 enters the south central region of the state. After the interstate crosses the Wisconsin River, it begins to head northwest. Near Oakdale, the interstate heads west to the state of Minnesota.
